Marvel Studios is reportedly moving forward with early development on a long-rumored World War Hulk movie, with fresh speculation suggesting production could begin in 2025. While the studio has yet to officially confirm the project, insider sources claim the film is being actively developed behind the scenes.
According to recent industry reports, World War Hulk—possibly titled World War Hulks—may feature multiple Hulk characters, including Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany), and even the Red Hulk, who is expected to appear in Captain America: Brave New World.
The rumored project is believed to draw inspiration from the popular Marvel Comics storyline World War Hulk, which follows Bruce Banner’s return to Earth after being exiled and launching a devastating attack with the help of his warbound allies.
Hulk Rights No Longer a Barrier
A significant reason this project is finally gaining traction is the resolution of long-standing distribution rights with Universal Pictures. Since 2008, Marvel Studios was unable to produce a standalone Hulk film due to Universal’s control of distribution. However, reports indicate those rights have now reverted back to Disney, clearing the path for solo Hulk content in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Possible MCU Setup
Upcoming MCU projects like Captain America: Brave New World (February 2025) and Thunderbolts (May 2025) are rumored to set the stage for World War Hulk. These films are expected to introduce General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross as the Red Hulk, played by Harrison Ford, further expanding the Hulk storyline in the MCU.
If production begins in late 2025 as insiders suggest, fans could expect the World War Hulk movie to release sometime in 2026 or 2027.
Marvel Has Yet to Confirm
As of now, Marvel Studios has made no official announcement about World War Hulk. There is no confirmation of a director, cast, or production schedule. However, the steady stream of rumors and recent narrative setup within the MCU suggests the project is more than just fan speculation.
