Spider-Man: Brand New Day could be bringing a fresh twist to the villain lineup, as new rumors suggest the introduction of a female antagonist inspired by Mister Negative.

While Marvel Studios has yet to confirm character details, recent casting calls have fueled speculation that a female version of Mister Negative—dubbed “Miss Negative” by fans—may appear in the upcoming film. The role is believed to be linked to the criminal underworld of New York, possibly drawing inspiration from Silver Sable or a reimagined take on Martin Li’s infamous alter ego.

Mister Negative, a complex character from the Spider-Man comics, is known for his dual identity: Martin Li, a benevolent philanthropist, and his dark alter ego, a ruthless crime boss. Introducing a gender-swapped or new female counterpart could open fresh narrative possibilities for the MCU and bring more diversity to the villain roster.
In addition to this rumored role, other casting updates include Sadie Sink joining in a mysterious role, and strong buzz around Anya Taylor-Joy potentially portraying Felicia Hardy / Black Cat.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to begin filming in June 2025, with a theatrical release set for July 31, 2026.
