Ryan Reynolds Confirms No More Solo Deadpool Movies: “The Character Works Best With Others

Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that there are currently no plans for a fourth solo Deadpool movie, signaling a shift in the beloved antihero’s cinematic future. Following the highly anticipated release of Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024, which marked the character’s official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Reynolds revealed that Deadpool’s journey is unlikely to continue as a standalone franchise.

In an interview discussing the character’s evolution, Reynolds expressed that the appeal of Deadpool now lies in his interaction with other characters. “To center Deadpool in a film, he has to be the underdog again, and I feel like we’ve already told that story,” he said. Instead, he believes the character thrives best in team-ups and ensemble casts, where his chaotic humor contrasts and complements more traditional heroes.

Reynolds also cited personal reasons for stepping back from solo projects, noting the demanding workload of producing and starring in high-profile blockbusters. “It takes a toll, and I need to prioritize balance with family and other projects,” he explained.

While he hasn’t ruled out future appearances as the Merc with a Mouth, Reynolds hinted that if Deadpool returns, it will likely be in someone else’s movie—possibly even in a rumored Gambit film with Channing Tatum.

For now, Deadpool & Wolverine may stand as the final chapter in Deadpool’s solo cinematic story—at least under Ryan Reynolds’ current vision.
