Russia Urges Citizens to Avoid Travel to Pakistan Amid Rising Tensions Following Pahalgam Terror Attack

In the wake of the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025, Russia has issued a travel advisory urging its citizens to avoid traveling to Pakistan due to escalating tensions in the region. The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals and left over 20 injured, was attributed to The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group of the Pakistan-based militant organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The attack has further heightened diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan. In response, India has taken significant measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, expelling Pakistani diplomats, closing borders, and revoking visas for Pakistani nationals. Pakistan has retaliated by suspending the Shimla Agreement, restricting trade, and closing its airspace. Since April 24, there have been reports of border skirmishes along the Line of Control.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken charge of the investigation into the attack, focusing on local terror networks and increasing operations in Kashmir.

International leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, have condemned the attack, expressing solidarity with India and calling for justice for the perpetrators.

With ongoing security concerns and diplomatic tensions, travelers are advised to exercise caution and stay informed about the evolving situation.
