Veteran actor Paul Ben-Victor, renowned for his roles in The Wire and Entourage, has been cast in HBO’s upcoming DC series Lanterns. He will portray Antaan, an extraterrestrial character described as “devoted to exposing the truth and exacting vengeance against those who wronged his people.” Antaan is consumed by a deep hatred for the law and is determined to deliver justice on his own terms.
While Antaan is an original character not found in the DC Comics canon, his description has led to speculation that he may be a reimagined version of Atrocitus, the leader of the Red Lantern Corps. Atrocitus, whose real name is Atros, is known for his vendetta against the Guardians of the Universe after the massacre of his people by the Manhunters.
Lanterns will follow Green Lanterns Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) as they investigate a murder in Nebraska, uncovering deeper mysteries. The series is part of DC Studios’ upcoming film universe and is slated to premiere on HBO in early 2026
