Actor Nicholas Galitzine has officially wrapped filming on Masters of the Universe, the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the beloved 1980s franchise, and he’s calling it “the role of a lifetime.”

The British actor, best known for his roles in Red, White & Royal Blue and The Idea of You, took to Instagram over the weekend to confirm the end of production. Sharing a behind-the-scenes image of himself in full costume as Prince Adam/He-Man, Galitzine wrote:

“Well, that’s a wrap on Masters of the Universe. It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He‑Man. It’s been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it. I am so proud of the movie we’ve made. Thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all your hard work.”

A Legendary Transformation

To prepare for the physically demanding role of He-Man, Galitzine reportedly underwent a dramatic transformation, following a high-calorie diet and a rigorous fitness regime. The actor’s muscular new look has been praised by fans, with many calling it a “perfect embodiment” of the iconic hero.

Online reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with social media posts hailing his dedication and physical transformation as “insane” and “comic-book accurate.”

Behind the Sword: Cast and Crew

Masters of the Universe is directed by Travis Knight, known for Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings. The script was penned by Chris Butler, with earlier contributions from David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and the Nee brothers.

The film also features a star-studded supporting cast, including:

  • Camila Mendes as Teela
  • Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn
  • Jared Leto as Skeletor
  • Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms

Return to Eternia

Filming wrapped in mid-June 2025, putting the production on track for a theatrical release on June 5, 2026, under Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films. The movie is expected to reintroduce audiences to the fantastical world of Eternia while offering a fresh and modern take on the mythology.

Though plot details remain under wraps, early reports suggest the story will focus on Adam’s transformation into He-Man and his battle to protect Eternia from Skeletor’s dark forces. The film aims to balance nostalgic elements with emotional depth, updated visuals, and a more grounded origin arc.

Galitzine’s Biggest Role Yet

Galitzine has described the role as a major milestone in his career, stating that playing both Prince Adam and He-Man required emotional and physical endurance. Co-star Camila Mendes recently praised his work ethic and on-set charisma, calling him “funny, grounded, and unbelievably committed.”

With Masters of the Universe, Galitzine joins the ranks of actors bringing iconic 1980s characters back to life for a new generation. The pressure to deliver is high, but the actor’s passion for the role has fans hopeful for an epic return to the Power of Grayskull.
