Keanu Reeves takes on a comedic role as Gabriel, a well-meaning but inept guardian angel, in the upcoming film Good Fortune. Directed and written by Aziz Ansari, who also stars in the movie, the film is set to be released in theaters on October 17, 2025.
In Good Fortune, Gabriel attempts to help Arj (played by Ansari), a struggling gig worker, by orchestrating a body swap between Arj and his wealthy employer, Jeff (portrayed by Seth Rogen). The plan backfires when Arj adapts too well to his new affluent lifestyle, leading Gabriel to lose his wings and become stranded on Earth. The ensemble cast also includes Sandra Oh, Keke Palmer, Sherry Cola, and Stephen McKinley Henderson
The film blends absurd humor with social commentary, aiming to revitalize the adult comedy genre in theaters. Ansari expressed optimism that Good Fortune could challenge the notion that audiences no longer attend theatrical comedies.
During filming, Reeves sustained a knee injury but continued working, delaying only a salsa scene. He recounted the incident, describing how he cracked his kneecap while filming a scene involving a cold plunge with Ansari and Rogen.
Good Fortune is poised to be a standout comedy, blending fantasy elements with real-world issues, and showcasing Reeves’ versatility as an actor.
