Lebanese media outlets are reporting that an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon targeted a vehicle in Lebanon on Wednesday, intensifying cross-border tensions amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.
According to the National Broadcasting Network (NBN), the strike occurred on a road between the towns of Kfour and Toul, near the city of Nabatieh, a Hezbollah stronghold located approximately 60 kilometers south of Beirut. Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle was hit directly, though the identity and number of casualties remain unconfirmed.
Local residents reported hearing a loud explosion followed by plumes of smoke rising from the area. Emergency services and Lebanese Army units were seen rushing to the scene.
This strike comes amid a dramatic escalation in Israeli-Hezbollah clashes, which have surged since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October. Southern Lebanon has witnessed near-daily exchanges of fire, with drone strikes, artillery shelling, and retaliatory rocket attacks becoming increasingly frequent.
The Israeli military has not officially commented on the incident. However, in recent weeks, it has stepped up its campaign to target Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure along the border region, citing threats to Israeli security.
The strike follows warnings from both sides about the risk of all-out war, with international mediators continuing efforts to prevent a wider regional conflict.
