Grant Morrison reveals new DC project is a Batman project

Many have pondered what Grant Morrison will be doing with superheroes, but now we know the character to be tackled.

Recently, writer Grant Morrison was in the news after revealing they are working with the Big-Two, and today, the Comic Book Couples Counseling podcast had the scoop on what that project will focus on. It’s Batman!

But what about Batman?

“I don’t need to do these things anymore, I only do it if it’s something interesting,” Morrison said. “It’s not Superman, but it’s a Batman thing.”

While no other details were revealed, it’s exciting to know Morrison will be returning to Batman. Morrison’s contribution to Batman is up there with the greats, particularly due to the co-creation of Damian Wayne, who will play a big part in James Gunn’s DC movie universe.

Grant Morrison’s run on Batman redefined the Dark Knight for a new era, blending surrealism, deep continuity, and bold reinvention. Across titles like BatmanBatman and Robin, and Batman Incorporated, Morrison expanded the mythos with the enigmatic Black Glove and Doctor Hurt, and reframed Batman not just as a brooding loner but as an enduring idea—an unstoppable force shaped by every trauma, challenge, and iteration across decades. Their storytelling wove in Silver Age weirdness, meta-commentary, and global stakes, ultimately positioning Batman as a mythic figure capable of surviving even death itself.
