Chris Evans Won’t Appear in Fantastic Four — His Cameo Scene Was Cut from the Final Film

Marvel fans hoping to see Chris Evans reprise his role as Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie will have to wait a little longer. Despite widespread speculation and excitement, it has been confirmed that Evans’ cameo was filmed but ultimately cut from the final release.

Evans famously played Johnny Storm in the early 2000s Fantastic Four films produced by 20th Century Fox. His return would have marked a nostalgic and thrilling bridge between the old Fox universe and Marvel Studios’ fresh reboot of the beloved superhero team.

However, sources close to the production say the decision to remove his scene was a creative one. As the movie took shape during post-production, Marvel opted to focus fully on the new cast — Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm — to properly establish this new era of the First Family.

While fans were excited about the possibility of a multiverse cameo connecting past and present iterations, insiders reveal that including Evans’ brief appearance risked overshadowing the fresh storytelling and character development at the heart of the reboot.

Directed by Matt Shakman, the Fantastic Four film aims to introduce Marvel’s First Family into the MCU with a modern take and cosmic stakes. The movie is currently slated for a 2025 release.

Although the scene didn’t make the theatrical cut, there’s hope it might be included later as a deleted scene or bonus feature — a little something for fans hungry for glimpses of the multiverse in action.

Marvel Studios has not officially commented on the cut, but the news has already sparked plenty of chatter among fans debating what Evans’ cameo could have meant for the MCU’s future.

Whether or not we see Evans return as Johnny Storm again, this Fantastic Four reboot promises to shake up the MCU in exciting new ways.
