Ben Affleck returns to the big screen as Christian Wolff in The Accountant 2, the sequel to the 2016 hit. He reprises his role as the autistic accountant who launders money for some of the world’s most dangerous criminals. Amid the film’s dark and intense atmosphere, there’s a surprising moment where Christian breaks out into line dancing. In a recent interview with select media, including HT, Ben opened up about filming this unexpected dance sequence.

When asked about the unexpected dance sequence, Ben joked, “America doesn’t expect it. America wasn’t asking for it, but they’re definitely going to get it.”

he actor described the dance sequence as a “big swing” for his character and a fun chance to try something different. “One of the things I enjoyed about this was exploring a guy who’s trying to figure out how to have a relationship — how to put himself out there,” Ben explained. “He’s not comfortable extending himself; he doesn’t really know how to flirt, and that makes him uneasy.”
Ben added that what Christian feels in that moment is something many can relate to. “Like so many of us, it’s not easy figuring out relationships, especially in the early stages when you’re trying to read the signals — ‘Is this person interested? Do they like me? Am I going to embarrass myself if I go over there?’” he said.
For Ben, line dancing was his character’s way of doing something familiar and comfortable — but for the actor himself, it was a whole different story. “It required a lot from me. I probably won’t be getting many more offers for my line dancing skills,” he joked. “The phone hasn’t rung yet. But honestly, it was really fun,” he added with a laugh, before cheekily saying, “Luckily for me, it wasn’t supposed to be good, at least.”
Ben’s co-stars were amused to see this unexpected side of him on set. Jon Bernthal, who plays Braxton, Christian’s brother, didn’t hold back from roasting him. “This is a disaster,” he recalled saying on set, even telling the crew playfully, “There’s no way this is making the movie. Why are we even here?”
