Avengers: Doomsday Cast Unveiling Confirms X-Men, Fantastic Four, Loki And More For MCU Team-Up

News just in: the Avengers: Doomsday cast has been unveiled. Well, we say ‘just in’. Over the last five or so hours, Marvel Studios has been confirming who will be starring in the long-awaited upcoming Avengers movie, which has officially begun production.

Yes, in a live-streamed announceathon on Marvel’s YouTube and social media channels, a succession of 26 cast chairs were slowly unfolded, accompanied by character appropriate musical stings, in fifteen minute intervals, revealing the sprawling list of names set to appear in the Russo Brothers’ long-awaited return to the MCU.

Deep breath — Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, and Pedro Pascal all made the cut. And just when fans thought it couldn’t get any bigger, Robert Downey Jr. stepped in at the end of the stream—already confirmed to return, but still dropping by to supercharge the hype with a final, unforgettable appearance.

That means Thor, Sue Storm, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, Shuri, Scott Lang, John Walker, Namor, Ben Grimm, Shang-Chi, Yelena Belova, Hank McCoy (aka Beast), possibly-but-not-definitely Sentry, Joaquin ‘The Falcon’ Torres, Johnny ‘The Human Torch’ Storm, Red Guardian, M’Baku, Ghost, Loki, Professor X, Magneto, Nightcrawler, OG Mystique, OG Cyclops, Gambit, Reed Richards, and Doctor Doom are all set to appear in the next major Marvel team-up. Intriguingly, this indicates several survivors from the upcoming Thunderbolts* (and one probably done for team member, too *cough* Taskmaster *cough*.) Plus, all of the MCU’s new Fantastic Four are in, a whole bunch of X-Men (well, Ex X-Men), and a plethora of Earth’s other Mightiest Heroes. Plus, we’re finally going to be reunited with Shang-Chi for the first time in yonks (in live-action at least). Phew!

Another deep breath — Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Benedict Wong (Wong), Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp), Paul Bettany (White Vision), Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster), Dominique Thorne (Ironheart), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Xochitl Gomez (America Chavez), Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), and even rumored returnees Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell didn’t make the list—at least, not yet.

Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by returning writer Stephen McFeely, who’s teamed up with Loki and Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness MCU veteran Michael Waldron on this one. We wouldn’t be surprised to see more castings trickle through as Doomsday‘s 1 May 2026 release date gets closer, or indeed for the odd sneaky cameo to find its way into the finished film. But until then, all that’s left to say is Avengers… reassemble.
