BREAKING: David Corenswet Wants Superman to Be Robin’s Mentor and Explore a Romantic Spark with Wonder Woman in the New DCU

As the DC Universe prepares for a fresh start under James Gunn’s creative vision, Superman star David Corenswet is already imagining powerful and emotionally rich connections between the Man of Steel and other iconic heroes — and he’s got Robin and Wonder Woman at the top of his wish list.

In a recent interview, Corenswet opened up about how he envisions his version of Superman — not just as a symbol of hope and strength, but as a grounded, emotionally intelligent force within the DCU. One of his most compelling ideas? Positioning Superman as a mentor figure to a younger Robin.

Superman has good dad energy,” Corenswet said with a smile.
“It’d be interesting to have him as a sort of uncle figure to Batman’s younger protégé.”

It’s a dynamic we rarely see on screen — a warm, patient Superman offering guidance and stability to a character often caught in Batman’s colder, more tactical world. The idea of Clark Kent connecting with Robin, possibly even acting as a moral compass or emotional support, could bring new depth to the superhero relationships at the core of the DCU.

But Corenswet isn’t stopping there. He also teased a potential romantic direction that could shake up the Justice League roster:

“Superman and Wonder Woman interests me,” he said.
“Maybe we could have a love triangle.”

Whether he’s hinting at a classic Superman-Wonder Woman-Batman triangle or something entirely new, the suggestion adds a spark of emotional drama to the upcoming era. A romantic connection between Superman and Wonder Woman has been explored in comics like Kingdom Come and Justice League, but has yet to be fully embraced on the big screen.

Corenswet’s ideas show that he’s not just thinking about action sequences or saving the world — he’s thinking about relationships, character growth, and the emotional stakes that make superheroes truly human.

With Superman set to hit theaters in July 2025, his comments give fans a glimpse at the kind of layered storytelling he hopes to help shape — one where the Man of Steel isn’t just strong, but emotionally connected, a mentor to the next generation, and maybe even caught in a bit of romantic tension with one of the most powerful women in the universe.
