Tom Felton to Make Broadway Debut as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Tom Felton, best known for playing Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series, is set to reprise the iconic role — this time on stage.

Felton will join the Broadway cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child beginning November 11, for a limited 19-week engagement that runs through March 22, 2026. Set 19 years after the events of the original series, the play follows Draco, now a father, as he and fellow former Hogwarts students Harry, Ron, and Hermione send their own children off to the magical school.

This marks Felton’s Broadway debut and the first time a cast member from the Harry Potter films has taken on a role in the stage adaptation.

Tom Felton, known worldwide for his portrayal of Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series, is set to return to the wizarding world — this time on stage. Felton will make his Broadway debut in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, stepping into the role of Draco for a 19-week run at the Lyric Theatre, beginning November 11, 2025, through March 22, 2026.

Set 19 years after the conclusion of the original Harry Potter saga, the play follows the next generation of witches and wizards as Draco, Harry, Ron, and Hermione send their children off to Hogwarts. Felton’s casting marks the first time a member of the film franchise has joined the stage adaptation.

Outside the Harry Potter universe, Felton continues to build a dynamic career. He recently starred in They Will Kill You alongside Zazie Beetz and Patricia Arquette for Skydance, and in Fackham Hall with Thomasin McKenzie and Damian Lewis. In 2022, he made his West End debut as Sam in 2:22 – A Ghost Story, and in 2024, he portrayed Bob Edwards in Gareth Farr’s A Child of Science at the Bristol Old Vic.

“Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honours of my life,” Felton said in a statement. “Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes – and of course his iconic platinum blond hair – and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world. I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.”

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany. It was written by Thorne and directed by Tiffany. The play has been running on Broadway since April 2018. Originally presented in two parts spanning over five hours, the production has since been reimagined into a streamlined, single-part version running under three hours.
